Meet The Good People & Charge Conference Instructions

 

I am very excited to tell you that the Gateway Regional District Mission Council made a decision to offer to pastors and laity in the district an excellent opportunity for learning this fall. In the spriit of the “re●mark●able” learning that began at Annual Conference, Roger Ross, our new Director of Congregational Development, will lead us in “Meet the Good People”. So many of you recognize that connecting with your community, welcoming new people into relationship with Christ, and the ministries of your church are critical priorities. This learning opportunity will provide you with some significant resources and an opportunity to discern how you, and your church can better connect with your neighbors.  

This event will also serve as our annual Charge Conference. During the course of the morning, we will take 15 minutes to vote Charge Conference forms. 

The following is some important information for your planning:

1. Learning sessions with Roger Ross will be offered on the following dates and locations:
 
· October 28 at Wentzville United Methodist Church
   725 Wall Street
   Wentzville, MO 63385
 
· November 4 at Centenary UMC in Bonne Terre
  20 Park Ave
  Bonne Terre, MO 63628-1762

2. Both learning events will begin with arrival fellowship and coffee from 9:00-9:30. The learning event itself will begin at 9:30 and end at 12:00pm.

3. Because this event serves as both a significant learning opportunity, and the annual vote of Charge Conference forms, the following attendance expectation is set for churches based on worship attendance:
 
  • 0-25 Worship Attendance:            2-4     People Attending Learning Event
  • 25-49 Worship Attendance:          4-6     People Attending Learning Event
  • 50-74 Worship Attendance:          6-8     People Attending Learning Event
  • 75-99 Worship Attendance:          8-10   People Attending Learning Event
  • 100-149 Worship Attendance:      10-12 People Attending Learning Event
  • 150-199 Worship Attendance:      12-15 People Attending Learning Event
  • 200-299 Worship Attendance:      15-20 People Attending Learning Event
  • 300-499 Worship Attendance:      20+    People Attending Learning Event
 
You are welcome to send more people, but please ensure the above attendance expectations are met.

4. Click the link below to register the people who will be attending from your church on Sign-Up Genius. You can register attendance through October 20.
 

5. To register: open Sign-Up, find your church, click the box and then click submit. On the subsequent page you can register the name of each person attending (click the number box to add additional people).

6. Charge Conference paperwork is due in the District Office no later than October 3 for the October 28 learning event, and no later than October 10 for the November 4 learning event. Please respect these deadlines as Becky needs time to review, and work with you on any questions, or adjustments prior to Charge Conference. 

7. Please remember all Charge Conference paperwork should be completed reviewed and approval voted by the Administrative Council prior to submitting it to the District Office. All forms should be signed by the appropriate leaders before you submit them to the district office.

8. Charge Conference forms will be available for you on the District website beginning August 15. A Charge Conference forms workshop is being offered to you, and any staff, who will be completing the forms on August 24th. Information about this training can be found in the District Newsletter.
